FEMA Education Course Overview
Contractors who complete these trainings will be eligible to be included in the CRMP Contractor Directory. All CRMP participating homeowners must use this Directory to select a contractor to complete their retrofit (one exception is EBB. Experienced do-it-yourselfers can do EBB retrofit work themselves).
The goal of this Seismic Rehabilitation Training is to educate California-licensed contractors and design professionals about seismic vulnerabilities of certain types of houses during an earthquake. Completing the free FEMA training will help you learn to identify common seismic vulnerabilities and learn about rehabilitation approaches and available guidelines.
- The training for EBB was developed from FEMA P-593, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This version of the training has been modified for use in California, and in particular for use with Chapter A3, as adopted into the latest edition of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC).
- The training for ESS was developed from FEMA P-1100 and funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
In order to take the quizzes and complete the trainings, and be added to the Contractor Directory, you must first Register.
